Three Dots, Garden Grove, CA
All of Three Dots apparel is designed, cut and sewn in their factory in Garden Grove, CA. I personally own several tank tops from Three Dots and I love them. My favorite thing about their apparel is the weight of the fabric, it is hefty and very high quality. Their clothing is not inexpensive, but like they say “you get what you pay for” and you get “quality” when you own a piece of clothing from Three Dots.
Three Dots is an evolving concept in lifestyle dressing based on great fabrics, inspired design, fastidious construction and the perfect fit. Co-founded by Sharon Lebon in 1995 in California, the company began with three styles, three sizes, twelve colors – it was an instant success. Today, Three Dots is a growing company with an increasing global distribution. The expanded collection for women includes exclusive knitwear, cashmere and wovens, as well as a selection of key styles for men.
American Apparel, Los Angeles, CA
I have debated with myself for a long time as to whether or not I should list American Apparel, because their Founder/CEO is a creep, if you want to know why read this. I decided to go ahead and list them for a couple of reasons, I want to support the employees of American Apparel especially since they are a local company, I also own a few of their t-shirts, although I don’t really wear them much because they run small, and the large is a tad tight on me. I think American Apparel’s sizing is cut for the junior set.
American Apparel was founded in 1989 by Mr. Dov Charney. It has gone from being a wholesale supplier of t-shirts to an extremely popular brand both domestically and internationally. The company’s expansion into retail was the fastest retail roll out in American history (wikipedia). American Apparel now carries full lines of ready to wear clothing for both men and women, but like I said before their clothes run small.
DUS-T, Goleta, CA
We have a new “Green” company to add to our list of Apparel, it is called ICHANGE. ICHANGE was created in 2006 by Steve Baker. The goal of the company is to enlighten the public to the causes of respiratory damage and skin disorders caused by everyday exposure to the environment. Steve and his associates have been working diligently to ensure a safe work place, as well as create a reliable solution to the wasteful disposal masks that have flooded the market. “Green thinking” is the way to a cleaner planet and a healthier environment! The DUS-T is flame resistant and highly visible. It comes in a number of different styles including an undershirt, polo, hoodie and specialty camouflage.
Mindful Supply, Greensboro, NC
If you are like me you wonder about where the clothes you are wearing come from. I often wonder where the fabric was spun, where the cotton was grown, who sewed my clothing, was it by a person that is making a living wage? These thoughts both interest and sometimes bother me. Luckily I was contacted my Mindful Supply of Greensboro, NC. Mindful Supply grows the cotton, gins it, knits it, dyes it, designs and prints it all here in the United States, and consumers have the unique ability to track the chain from start to finish, seeing the care and passion that went into making every piece. This is so cool and a trend that hopefully other Made In USA companies start to follow. Thank you Mindful Supply for your commitment to Made In USA products and apparel.

Prairie Underground, Seattle, WA
I stumbled upon this brand while shopping in a boutique in Berkeley, CA. I bought one of their gorgeous hoodies made out of hemp and organic cotton. I have been saving money to purchase more of their beautiful designs. I love looking at their website, very stylish cutting edge garments made out of sustainable fabric. Their Facebook page states the following “the collection directly supports a diminishing network of sewing contractors in Seattle, Washington and has incorporated sustainable textiles made of hemp and organic cotton in every collection since in 2005.” Purchase a piece or two, if you can find them in your size their items seem to sell out fast. You have to purchase through a retailer or online store as they do not sell directly off their website.

They also come in different lengths which I love, because I am petite. Let’s support this company, these jeans are VERY well made. Below is a pic I was inspired to take of my new jeans…
